Following a physique competition in 2016, I found myself lost about where to go with my nutrition. My metabolism had come to a halt from severe restrictive eating and I was terrified of food. When I started working with Shane, I had trouble trusting his process and battled with cycles of binge eating and overtraining to compensate for the "bad" food I had eaten. Over time, I learned food is neither good nor bad, but rather "fuel for the beastmode vehicle" as Shane would put it. I began observing how distorted my relationship with food had become and started to see why the "clean eating" meal prep approach that is so commonly used by trainers fails over time.
